Guided by Frank Garcia, you will be doing what fossil collectors dream of doing. You will be hunting for vertebrate fossils of land animals from 35 million years ago in the Oligocene badlands of Western Nebraska. You will be walking, climbing, searching, exploring in this otherworldly environment for teeth and bones, jaws, skulls and skeletons. Frank will help train you to look for the right stuff. And when you find it, he will help you excavate, extract, and preserve it. And the best part is that you KEEP EVERYTHING YOU FIND whatever it is, no matter how valuable ? it's yours.

What can you expect to find? The most common finds are those of animals called Oreodonts. Not just broken bones or tooth fragments, but vertebrae, entire bones, jaws with teeth and yes, skulls. Some fossil hunters have even found partial skeletons. Oreodonts are just the start. It gets more exciting ? how about Camels, Deer, Horses, Dogs, Rhinoceros, Titanotheres and even Saber-toothed Cats. Everything you find is yours!

The cost includes lodging, guide fees, access fees, and transportation. You pay for meals (really excellent and very reasonable) as well as your method of getting to Rapid City (by air) or the ranch (by your own means).
